The Social Wall
Yeah, I know. No post in a while. I apologize. Truth is, I haven’t had a whole lot to say. You see, I have hit what I like to call “The Social Wall”. Things have leveled off. Nothing new to report. Stale, if you will. No exciting wins, no crushing losses, just even Steven. Well, that doesn’t work for me. I don’t like stale. I don’t like even Steven. Especially in business. Back when the Lightning won the Stanley Cup, they had a motto they used throughout the playoffs: “Safe is Death”, meaning don’t get complacent, don’t be happy with good enough, don’t sit back when things are going your way, get aggressive and keep pounding. So, that has presented me with a challenge. Let’s get un-stale. How can I, Tom Hall, give these 3 companies (I’ll get to the new company in a minute) the shot in the arm to propel them?
The answer really is what I have known it to be all along. Content. There is a saying in this industry that “Content is King”. It is. And to make you different from everyone else, you must serve your king. He is a benevolent king who rewards all of his loyal subjects and crushes all those who oppose him. The reason things got stale, things stopped exploding: I got sidetracked and stopped creating new and relevant content. That’s a bad Tom! Not to say I have just sat here at my desk for 8 hours a day staring blankly into space. There is a ton going on here. I am building 2 websites. I am getting a direct mail campaign off the ground. I am starting an email newsletter, so on and so forth. There is a lot happening, but all of that can not replace the king. It can not stop you from creating new blog posts, finding relevant articles online and sharing them, any of that stuff. Especially on the Sayyah’s side, I had really started to hit my stride in posting household cleaning tips. Do we clean houses? No. That doesn’t matter. It is weekly, useful content that is loosely related to our business. It gives people a reason to visit our website. We are providing something useful to them. If even one of those folks eventually becomes a customer, that is a win. So, now back to all of that for me.
So I mentioned a 3rd company. It’s called Engineered Coatings Technology (ECT) and we distribute InstaSHIELD. A lot of my time right now is dedicated to launching this brand. It is the first time I have handled everything from scratch for a company so it’s pretty exciting. Also, I am about ready to launch the new and VASTLY improved Sayyah’s website! Also, I just wanted to take a moment and tell you about a side project I have attached myself to. The company is called Circa Design. They do interior design. REALLY well! So I am going to help them get set up in the social universe and build a website for them. I was very excited and blessed to get the chance to work on this so now I’m gonna run with it! So the site is on the way, but in the meantime click the link earlier in this paragraph and like them on Facebook. So as for me, there is precious little time to waste. I have content to create. I have brands to build. I have websites to build. Time to go back to being aggressive because safe is death.
